Lip Recipe - Muted Babydoll

Lips of the Day
Muted Babydoll
For this look I used Mac Pink Plaid and Maybelline Coloursensationsal Lipstick in Tantalizing Taupe.
Pink Plaid is one of my all time favourites from Mac, it is a matte finish and is a beautiful blue toned mid-toned pink.
On top I used the beigey nude from Maybelline which has a more glossy finish to it.

I love this combo, what are your favourite lip recipes?

Haul! (Boots, Superdrug and River Island)

So I went to Superdrug and Boots yesterday and bought a few things, mainly related to hair and nails. here is what I bought... (oops)

I am starting a new job soon and my old bag was very small and had gotten very messy after a muddy Glastonbury so I needed a new, big, clean and professional looking handbag - and where better to look than River Island?! I ADORE this bag (but not the £45 price tag) I allow myself one new RI bag per year and this is this years!
The dress is from Blue Inc and I adore the monochrome houndstooth print and the peter pan collar - a steal at £15.00 (though I believe it is now in the sale for £10)

All nail products were on a 3 for 2 offer in Boots (which is still on I believe) and I wanted some new nails for my Grad Ball which was this week.
  • Elegant Touch Super Adhesive Tabs - £2.49
  • Elegant Touch Brush on Nail Glue - £3.10
  • Elegant Touch  Totally Bare Stiletto false nails - £4.65
I swear by this combination, I apply the nails with the tabs and then when they inevitably pop off at some point over the following few days I reapply them with the glue - this combo seems to give the nails the super stickiness of the glue along with the flexibility of the tabs, meaning that my nails stay on for at least a week. I also love that these stiletto nails come paint free - meaning that I can colour them with any polish I like and even change colours during the week. I opted for a powder blue when I wore them, as seen below.

Superdrug also had a 3 for 2 offer on and I picked up some cheap goodies.
  • MUA Matte Perfect Top Coat -£2.00
  • MUA Super Strength Polish Base Coat - £2.00
  • 2True Fast Dry Nail Polish Shade 15 - £1.99
  • Bourjois Instant Dry Nail Drops Clear - £5.99
The MUA basecoat is great for the price, but the matte topcoat has an awful gloopy, almost grainy texture and doesn't work at all. (Though it is possible that it is a problem with the specific bottle I bought). The Bourjois nail drops are fantastic, one drop over the nail and the polish dries on top - though you do have to still be careful as just the top layer dries and it is still possible to dent the polish or to rub it all off.

These nails are the Elegant Touch Stiletto nails paired with the 2True polish. LOVE. (please excuse the messiness, this was pre-cleanup)
Being a bottle blonde I find it difficult to keep my hair root free as well as banishing the brassy tones from my locks. I found myself at Blue Banana and decided to pick up the Directions White Toner and the Manic Panic Amplified colour in Virgin Snow, the prices were significantly less in Blue Banana than online so I would recommend popping in if you are looking for these. I also bought the L'Oreal hair dye in Stockholm as it is my absolute favourite for doing my roots, I only need one application to go from dark brown to bright blonde. Amaze!
  • Directions White Toner - available here for £5.49
  • Manic Panic Amplified Virgin Snow - £12.99
  • L'Oreal Preference in Stockholm - £6.99

I then popped into B&M Bargains (one of my all time favourite shops for house bits and bobs) and found these amazing jars for £1.49 and £1.99 respectively! They are the perfect size for my jewellery and will be taking pride of place on my dresser once I am properly moved to Bristol.

Here is my FOTD wearing the Blue Inc dress.

Makeup Revolution Haul!

Makeup Revolution Haul!

I recently visited the Makeup Revolution London website and may or may not have spent the £30 necessary to receive free shipping - it was, as I'm sure you can imagine, extremely easy.
The company is extremely affordable and is pretty amazing quality across the board (unlike MUA and ELF which are completely hit and miss for me.)
Anyway; on with the haul!

the first thing I ordered was their pressed powder in 'translucent' and let me tell ya, it's not translucent! It's closer to an NC25 but is a lovely consistency and finish. I adore the swivel packaging and the big mirror too. 3.5/5

The Bronzer in 'Matte Medium' is fantastic for the whopping £2 I payed for it. Finding a completely matte bronzer is hard enough without being on a budget so this is fantastic. the formula is a little chalky for my liking but it looks beautiful if you use a light hand and blend well.
4/5

The powder blush in 'Wow' has become an every day staple for me, a bright, flirty pop of pastel pink. perfect for summer! It cost £1 which is insane - I will definitely be purchasing more of the blushes.
5/5

(please excuse my old fake tan in these photos... it happens to the best of us)
the Cover and Conceal Palette in 'Light/Medium' contains 8 different shades of concealer ranging from what I would guess is NC15 to NC35. the concealers are very lightweight so not best for those face erruptions but are beautiful as a base on any redness or as a finishing tough (I like to use the salmon shade on my undereye circles). The formula is cream and almost dewy when dry.
3.5/5

Next on the shopping list was the Blush and Contour Palette in 'Hot Spice' which unfortunately has no contour shades in it at all, contrary to what the name of the product would have you believe.
However, the palette itself is gorgeous, there are 2 highlighter shades, 3 Matte, 1 Shimmer and 2 Satin shades of blush inside. the colours are all warm tones oranges and pinks which would be beautiful on olive skin especially. The blushes themselves are beautifully pigmented though I am disappointed at the lack of a contour colour.
3.5/5

I ordered the 'What you waiting for?' Palette as the colours are just so me. I LOVE the fact that the matte shades are all warm tones neutrals and the shimmers are very reminiscent of the Urban Decay Naked 3 palette. The cool tones taupey-purple (the 4th matte shade) is a dupe for 'Nooner' which happens to be my favourite shade from Naked 3, perfect for a diffused crease on my hooded blue eyes.
The shades are super pigmented, creamy, there is very little fall out and for £4 I honestly don't know what more you could ask for!
5/5

The next item I bought was one of the £1 range of lipsticks - I got 'Enchanted' which reminds me of snob from mac due to it being a blue toned baby pink. It is super gorgeous and moisturising.
5/5

This highlighter is undoubtedly my favourite thing from the whole order. It is SOOOO pigmented you would not believe it. I have to use the tiniest amount on my brush and it gives the most amazing summery golden glow. I am in love, and it has earned a spot in my permanent makeup bag (if only because it will take me years to leave a dent in this bad boy.) Plus it was only £3!
5/5
I cannot get over the quality and prices of this brand. I am so pleased I found them! Let me know if you would like to see more swatches or hauls or makeup looks created with these products!

and here is the look i created using the concealer, blush, eyeshadow palette, bronzer and the lipstick!
